Every great movement begins with a vision, and iLead was born from one — a vision to raise the next generation of Ugandan leaders who practice transformational leadership for a better Uganda.
In June 2024, the iLead Global Director met with the First Lady, Mama Janet K. Museveni — Minister of Education and Sports of Uganda — to inaugurate the iLead program.
iLead Uganda — a transformative youth leadership program by the Maxwell Leadership Foundation — is being piloted in secondary schools in Uganda for the very first time. Created by world-renowned leadership expert John C. Maxwell and brought to Uganda through a global partnership, iLead is more than a curriculum — it’s a movement!
In partnership with the Ministry of Education and District Education Officers (DEOs), the iLead Uganda team met with selected Head Teachers of Kampala and Wakiso as pilot districts to introduce and orient them on the iLead program. The meeting, held at Makerere University Hall in November 2024, was attended by representatives from 63 schools, targeting 30,000 students in the first year.
At its core, the iLead program is built to prepare Ugandan youth to become value-based, transformational leaders — driven by integrity, accountability, service, results, and excellence.
The iLead journey begins with three powerful levels:
"Everything rises and falls on leadership," "A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way," and "Change is inevitable, growth is optional." – John Maxwell
Each level provides 16 dynamic lessons tailored to secondary students — equipping them to live out leadership values in real life.
